The “For Zion’s Sake Praise Dance Company” of Knoxville Tennessee would like to extend an invitation for you to accompany us on our annual dance tour.

For Zion's Sake Praise Dance troupe once again is touring Israel bringing with them their special joy and enthusiasm for the land of the bible. They made their first tour to Israel in 2000, presenting the dances and songs of the people as a gesture of friendship and goodwill.

The For Zion's Sake Dance troupe are members of a large praise dance group in Knoxville, Tennessee. Because dance is for everyone, we encourage you to join us, regardless of age, on this dance filled tour of the Land of Israel. We will be teaching easy Israeli fold dances so all can join in the fun.

During our time in the Land we will be teaching and dancing the beautiful dance of Israel each evening with those touring with us. We will also have the special delight of dancing with local residents in their settlements and cities.

Passover in Jerusalem - Pre Tour

Monday, March 28 - Saturday April 3: Passover in Jerusalem

During these seven days we will tour the "Holy City" with Jean and Jerry extensively

Passover Praise Dance Tour Itinerary
Jordan Portion

Day 1 - Sunday, April 4: Jordan, Petra
After an early breakfast we travel from Jerusalem to the border with Jordan and cross at the Sheikh Hussein crossing and travel to Bethany, the village of John the Baptist not to be confused with the village of Bethany near Jerusalem. This is the site of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist we will also stop at Elijah’s ascent, Machaeus Fortress where Herod imprisoned John and beheaded him and Kerak. We travel along the “Kings Highway” along the Dead Sea to Petra. Dinner and overnight in Petra

Day 2 - Monday, April 5: Petra
After an early breakfast the group will leave for Petra we will tour the city of Petra, lost to the world for centuries, the Rose-Red City half as old as time, lay hidden in the mountains of southern Jordan. We travel part of the way on horseback and the rest on foot through the deep and narrow passages. The Treasury finally appears magnificently and immediately in front of us after we emerge from what seems like a hundred turns in the ravine. The most adventurous will be invited to hike up to the spiritual “High Place”, site of the sacrificial alter which offers a spectacular view of the ancient city and environs. Dinner and overnight in Petra

Day 3 - Tuesday, April 6: Jordan, Dead Sea
Depart Petra and driver to the holy city of Madaba, known for its outstanding Byzantine mosaics. Visit St. George’s Cathedral. The Cathedral’s 6th century mosaic floor contains the earliest surviving map of the Holy Land. Then on to Mt. Nebo, the traditional site of the tomb of Moses. We now travel to the Jabokk River where Jacob wrestled with an angle and Gilead where the prophet Elijah was from. We cross to Israel at the Sheikh Hussein border crossing, and continue to the Dead Sea Dinner and overnight near the Dead Sea

Passover Praise Dance Tour Itinerary
Israel Portion

Day 1 - Wednesday, April 7: Dead Sea
After pick up in Jerusalem we drive to the area of the Dead Sea the lowest point on the face of the earth. Our first stop is the community of Mitzpeh Yericho where we will have an overlook and explanation of Jericho. We proceed to the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve where David hid from King Saul; here we can see the unique flora and fauna of the area. There will be time for a swim (float) in the Dead Sea the lowest body of water on the face of the earth, or an option to visit one of the famous spas at the Dead Sea. Our next stop is Mount Sdom a mountain made entirely of salt. Dinner and overnight near the Dead Sea

Day 2 - Thursday, April 8: Dead Sea, Negev Desert
In the morning we will visit Masada, the spectacular mountaintop fortress, built by Herod and famous as the last stronghold of the Jewish Rebellion against the Romans. (There will be an option to climb Masada to see the sunrise). After some rest and relaxation we travel in the desert to Arad, one of the richest archaeological sites in southern Israel. Here Moses' spies began to encounter walled cities and returned to camp with a bad report. Driving through the Negev our next stop is the desert home of David Ben Gurion, the first Prime Minister of Israel. We continue to the Ramon crater for a truly magnificent view and to explore geological formations older then time. At a Bedouin encampment we will stop for a camel ride in the desert, have dinner in a Bedouin tent and watch the Masada "sound and light show" for a clear understanding of Masada. Dinner and overnight near the Dead Sea

Day 3 - Friday, April 9: Jordan River Valley, Galilee
We drive north through the Jordan River Valley for the northern lands of the Galilee. On the way we will discuss many of the people of the Bible: David's flight from his son, Absolom; Jacob wrestling with an angel; the hometown areas of Elijah and Elisha; Mt. Gilboa, and many more. We stop at the excavated city of Beit Shean, the largest excavation in Israel with its 8,000-seat theater and was one the earliest and most important cities in Israel from the time of the Canaanites it was here that the Philistines hung King Saul’s body. We now travel to Gideon’s spring where Gideon the Judge chose his able-bodied men. We will end our day at Yardanit, where the Jordan River flows from the southern end of the Sea of Galilee and which is a possible site of Jesus' baptism. You will have the opportunity to baptize your children (or be baptized) in the River and may also take some Jordan River water home with you if you wish. We will spend some time in Yardanit's wonderful gift shop before ending up on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. Dinner and overnight on the Sea of Galilee

Day 4 - Saturday, April 10: Sea of Galilee
After a late breakfast Jerry and Jean will lead us as we travel around the Sea of Galilee and become intimately acquainted with the towns of Jesus' ministry in the Gospels. We visit Capernaum (where Peter's house has been discovered along with the synagogue where Jesus taught). You may sit in the "Seat of Moses" a stone chair probably used by Jesus, when we visit the village of Korazim, Tabgha and the Mount of Beatitudes. Then we proceed to the Yigal Alon Museum in Kibbutz Ginosar and see the 2,000-year-old boat discovered near the kibbutz, here we will have an opportunity to dance with people of the Land Dinner and overnight on the Sea of Galilee

Day 5 - Sunday, April 11: Golan
We will start our day by visiting the Golan Heights. We’ll stop at Gamla the Jewish stronghold where 5,000 fought bravely but in the end succumbed to Roman tyranny. We will hike in the reserve see the nesting places of the largest birds in Israel and the largest waterfall. Our next stop is Caesar Philippi or Banias a temple to the Greek god Pan once stood here. We continue northwest to the Lebanese border where we can look right into Lebanon. Dinner and overnight on the Sea of Galilee

Day 6 – Monday, April 12: Galilee
This morning we take a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee and then drive west to Kfar Kedem where we can ride on donkeys, bake pita bread and learn what it was like to live in a village 2,000 years ago. At Kfar Kedem a special surprise awaits us. In the area of Mount Tabor we will visit an unusual enterprise of bees and silk and then climb the mountain where Deborah and Barak fought and which is the traditional site of the Transfiguration of Jesus. Dinner and overnight in Netanya

Day 7 - Tuesday, April 13: Western Galilee
After time for swimming we travel to Caesarea the ancient city named after Augustus Caesar. We will have the late afternoon to swim in the Mediterranean. Our next stop is Kibbutz Sdot Yam where we will visit the Hannah Senesh Museum. Our next stop is Mount Carmel where Elijah fought the 400 prophets of Baal. Our next stop is a visit to a Druze village where we can learn about the Druze people. This evening we will be able to dance with people of the Land. Dinner and overnight in Netanya

Day 8 - Wednesday, April 14: Samaria
We drive east to Shiloh, the capital of ancient Israel for 369 years during the time of Eli the high priest and Samuel the prophet. Security permitting we continue to Mount Gerizim (home to the remnants of the Samaritan people), here we overlook Shechem, where God first appearance to Abraham in the Promised Land and meet with some of the Samaritan people. God's covenant with His chosen people was established here and Abraham built his first alter; Jacob purchased land and dug his own well "Jacob's Well" (where Jesus met the Samaritan woman); Joshua set up his "Standing Stone"; Joseph's bones are buried here. Our next stop of the day is Maale Levona where we will be able to meet some of our tour operator and guides’ friends and neighbors and dance with people of the land. After our final dinner in Maale Levona we depart for Ben Gurion Airport and your flight home. Say (shalom) goodbye to Israel until your next trip.
